Liu Song is a Shanghai-based photographer who mainly shoots celebrities and fashion. He majored in printmaking and started taking photos when he was helping fashion design students photograph their graduation projects. Naturally, he fell in love with fashion magazines. Liu is intrigued by the fact that the same clothes can look different depending on the photographer or model. His main source of inspiration is conversations with people and through human interactions, he seeks to constantly evolve. His ironclad rule is not to be a dictator in the studio and instead listen to people around him. Choosing courtesy and distance rather than overstimulation, his work is a beautiful interplay of moderation and unconventional fashion.
상하이 기반의 포토그래퍼 류송은 주로 셀럽들과의 패션 작업을 선보이고 있다. 판화를 전공한 그는 패션 디자인 전공 학생들의 졸업 작품을 촬영하며 커리어를 시작했고 자연스럽게 패션 매거진 분야로 이어졌다. 류송은 같은 옷일지라도 포토그래퍼나 모델에 따라 천차만별로 달라 보일 수 있는 점에서 특히 사진 작업이 흥미로웠다. 그는 사람들과 나눈 대화에서 사진에 대한 영감을 받고 인간관계를 통해 부족한 모습을 채워가고 발전하는 것을 중요하게 생각한다. 당연하게도 그런 그에게 사진 철칙이 하나 있다면 촬영장에서 독재자가 되지 않으려고 한다는 것이다. 원하는 방향대로만 나아가기 보다 주변 스태프들을 비롯해 여러 사람들의 의견을 듣고 소통하는 것이 좋은 퀄리티의 작업을 만든다는 것을 잘 알고 있다고 말한다. 류송의 촬영에 대한 예의와 서로 간의 존중은 자극적인 느낌보다 절제미와 실험적인 패션이 아름답게 조화를 이루는 그의 사진에서도 드러난다.
